BUDDHA: THE SPLENDOR OF ENLIGHTENMENT (BTSOE)is a dance drama with a combination of Indian classical dance styles, folk and contemporary movements. It presents the expressive and yet vigorous and sensuous movements of Indian classical dance and drama, all presented in English. The spell-bounding music, produced in India under the direction of renowned music composer Praveen D. Rao, enthralls all those who enjoy listening to the magical tunes of Indian classical music and melodious Western tunes, sometimes comical and sometimes theatre-like.
The unique production brought to you by the Bharathanjali Dance Academy, will be presented by approximately 70 dancers ranging from the ages of 1½ years to 45 years.
BTSOE will highlight Prince Siddharta Buddha’s experience during His search for the meaning of peace. It will show how a prince in India, a human being, gave up materialistic desires and human attachments in His quest for the truth of life and become the Buddha; thus showing that it is not impossible for each of us to lead the life of righteousness that He had preached. It highlights his birth, growing up, marriage and search for enlightenment.
